Harry Patch can be an eye opener !

Harry Patch seems to be the improving horse in the Class 2 5f Hcap at Doncaster tomorrow. He is lightly raced only having had 5 runs so far and he beat Mac's Power at Yarmouth last time out and he has since won on the AW and very convincingly here yesterday. Prior to that Harry Patch ran another good race when 2nd to Poet's Place who subsequently went on to win the Portland off a 10lb higher mark and the 3rd Damika went on to win the Great St Wilfrid and they both had race fitness on their side at Haydock. He only had one run in 2009 when 3rd to Swiss Diva and she has made great strides this year too winning two Group 3 sprints. He suffered a pelvic problem last year which kept him off the track for a while but he is making big strides now. He was entered in the Wokingham but didnt get a run there and he looks capable of defying his mark of 92 on what he has shown us so far and he could even progress up to Group class next year. He is by Lujain out of an Indian Ridge mare so is always likely to want a bit of cut underhoof.
Of course this will be no penalty kick and his draw in stall 3 mightnt be the best looking at yesterday's 6f result when the finish was full of high drawn horses and there are others to consider such as Cheveton and Johannes who ran well on his latest run.
However it is hard to get away from Harry Patch and it looks as though he will be well supported tomorrow and he is selected on the basis that his untapped class will see him through.
