Prince to shine at Ascot

5.10 Ascot
Chiefdom Prince comes into this Class 3 Handicap over 6f on a mark of a mark of 87 having won easily at Pontefract last time and Sir Michael Stoute can exploit it. He has a big field of experienced handicappers to overcome but he did it so well at Pontefract it is too hard to ignore and he is a worthy fav. He drifted across to the right late on there and his draw in stall 3 will help in that regard as he will be able to run along the rail if needs to. The fact that he has been kept in training indicates he is likely to be better than a handicapper in due course and I am confident that he will go close today.

Hawkeyethenoo was very unlucky at Newmarket in a competitive 6f sprint last weekend and he gets the chance to put things right here. He will be ridden this time by Gary Bartley who has won on him 3 times before and hopefully he wont get himself into as much trouble as William Buick. He is drawn on the right side of the track and the 7f trip shouldnt be a problem as he stayed on so well at Newmarket. On last weeks showing he looks to have improved again, he seems to excel in these big field handicaps and he must be involved in the finish.

There are several horses from the "To Follow" pages running today and there is an interesting sprint race at Haydock involving Bated Breath, Society Rock and Victoire De Lyphar which it too difficult to call.
