Oceans Minstrel is all the rage for Newmarket

I dont usually refer to any type of racing other than sprints on this blog but I feel I must mention Oceans Minstrel is now as low as 16/1 for the Cesarewithch at headquarters, he ran a race full of promise when 3rd last time out over the course and distance and it prompted me to write the following on this blog after the race "On a different note 2 other horses that caught my eye over the weekend were Cumulus Nimbus at Newbury and Oceans Minstrel at Newmarket and I think the latter could be a value bet in the Cesarewitch over 2m 2f".

He was available at 40/1 then and this son of Pivotal still represents good value for his small yard at 20/1 and that price is still available with a couple of firms. In that aforementioned race he was out the back with about half a mile to go and he came through well down the outside after having some trouble at the begining of his run. He looks to be open to further improvement over this sort of trip as he has shown that he wont be stopping come the end of this unique 2m 2f race.
Whilst I am on about other distances I thought Tony Martin's Pires ran a cracker in finishing 3rd in the Cambridgeshire and if he takes his chance in the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham then I know what my money will be on.
