York Day Two

A good 10/1 win for the blog today to continue the winning streak !

Both sprint races were won by horses coming from stall 18 today. Although both were held up, you couldn't say that either used the draw to win and I think that was more down to coincidence than anything else.

Society Rock's time was only 1.04 seconds outside standard so the rain didn't have as much influence on the going as most people may have thought.

Onto tomorrow and in the 3.50 Richard Fahey's Polski Max has shown improved form over his last few runs and his latest effort was a good performance on speed figures it would seem. The second and third reoppose and this time they will all be on the same weight, albeit Smoothtalkinrascal will have the benefit of the excellent Daniel Tudhope.
However Polski Max's trainer doesn't seem so confident about his chances commenting "It would help Polski Max if the ground turned up heavy. I just worry that five furlongs at York would be sharp enough for him but he's started the season very well". Well it's highly unlikely to turn up heavy as there doesnt look like being much rain about now. He performed well enough on Good to Soft at Pontefract, however that was over 6f and Pontefract is also a stiff track.
With all that in mind I would be inclined to go for Smootalkinrascal (1st) at 9/2 on this occasion although I'm not as confident about a win as I was about Society Rock.

The first race at York , the Class 2 5f Handicap looks very open and Cheworee, Bedloe's Island, Kingsgate Choice and Goldream  look the ones to be concentrating on to me and Silvestre De Sousa looks an interesting jockey booking for the O'Meara stable - Bedloe's Island.
Stone Of Folca is the obvious leader in stall 11 and may even hold out as he won the dash at Epsom.....so it may pay to be drawn close to him and last time out winner Bedloe's Island (14) and Goldream (15) (2nd),  trained by the up and coming sprint expert Robert Cowell, could be the ones to watch out for with the latter at an ew price of 16/1.

I will be away from Friday morning until Monday so don't expect any reviews over the weekend. On Friday look out for Ninjago (3rd) at Newbury and on Saturday Mississippi (0) and Kyleakin Lass (0) both run at Thirsk.
